"Examination of the Rev. Mr. Harris's scriptural researches on the licitness of the slave trade" by James Ramsay presents a powerful 18th-century critique of arguments attempting to justify the slave trade on religious grounds. This meticulously prepared print edition offers readers direct access to Ramsay's detailed examination of Raymund Harris's pro-slavery scriptural interpretations.
Delving into the heart of the ethical and religious debates surrounding slavery, Ramsay challenges the use of Christian theology to legitimize the brutal practice of the slave trade. This work provides invaluable insight into the moral landscape of the era, exploring the complex interplay between faith, ethics, and social justice. A crucial historical document for understanding the abolitionist movement and the enduring struggle against slavery. Relevant for those interested in Christian ethics, religious aspects of slavery, and the history of social justice. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
