Behind every town, institution and landmark in Pennsylvania stand the stories of men and women who built them. Encyclopaedia Of Pennsylvania Biography (Volume VI) gathers those stories at the moment the Commonwealth was stepping into the modern age. These lives still speak today. From pioneering industrialists and civic leaders to clergy, educators and jurists, each carefully crafted sketch preserves character, achievement and public service in vivid, accessible prose. Compiled under the direction of historian John W. Jordan, this historical biography volume forms part of a landmark Pennsylvania biographical encyclopedia and enduring Pennsylvania biography collection. It presents authoritative sketches of Pennsylvania notable citizens across politics, business, the professions and public life. Many entries trace Pennsylvania family histories back through colonial and revolutionary eras, making it an invaluable resource for genealogists and a trusted reference for historians. As a Pennsylvania local history reference grounded in contemporary Pennsylvania historical records, it offers a rich portrait of early 20th century Pennsylvania, while also serving as a meticulous American genealogy reference and a classic work of US regional biography for readers who simply enjoy true stories of notable lives. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions, Encyclopaedia Of Pennsylvania Biography (Volume VI) has been carefully brought back into circulation from the original edition. Restored for today's and future generations, it speaks both to casual readers of history and to collectors seeking a significant heritage title. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure.
