Heroes The Greek Myths Reimagined

Stephen Fry’s Heroes is an utterly captivating celebration of Greek mythology, delivered with the charm, wit, and intellectual sparkle that only Fry can provide. He writes with such natural elegance that the ancient tales feel both timeless and freshly alive, transforming legendary figures into vivid personalities with fears, flaws, humour, and humanity. Fry’s psychological insight is remarkable; he presents each hero unvarnished, revealing their brilliance and their darkness with equal honesty. His storytelling never flatters or simplifies — instead, he digs into the emotional truth of every character, showing why these myths have endured for millennia. The book is irresistibly entertaining: clever, warm, and full of Fry’s signature humour, yet grounded in deep respect for the original sources. It’s the kind of narrative that soothes the soul of anyone who loves Greek mythology, offering both comfort and discovery in every chapter. A brilliant, generous work — and a must‑read for anyone who delights in myth, storytelling, or Fry’s incomparable voice. less
