The Proverbs of Alfred is a book written by Walter W. Skeat that contains a collection of proverbs attributed to King Alfred the Great, who was a ruler of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex in the 9th century. The book includes a detailed introduction that discusses the history and significance of the proverbs, as well as their relationship to other works of Old English literature. The proverbs themselves cover a wide range of topics, including wisdom, morality, and practical advice for daily life. They are presented in both Old English and modern English translations, allowing readers to appreciate the language and meaning of the original text. Overall, The Proverbs of Alfred is a valuable resource for scholars of Old English literature and anyone interested in the history and culture of Anglo-Saxon England. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
